A further story of onion production by the Nakagawa family

On Jan 23rd 2023, we reported onion production by the Nakagawa family in Minami-Awaji. Here we report a further story by the Nakagwa family. In June, the whole Nakagawa members together harvested their onions which were planted in Dec. 2022. The first two pictures show the planting by them.

Three pictures below show that the onions grew vividly in Spring during March and May.

In June, the most onions appear from the ground and cover the whole fields.

The following pictures show that the onions were harvested with or without a machine.

Eventually the harvested onions were packed in cases, sent to a buyer, and reach super markets in Kansai area.

After the onion harvest, the fields are filled with water and then the rice seedlings are planted. This process cleans up the field to remove excess fertilizers which is important for the onion production next year in the same filed.

The whole pictures were kindly taken by Mr. Kazuki Nakagawa. We appreciate the kind support by the whole Nakagawa family for this report.
