You can see flowers everywhere in Awaji Island. During the wintertime, daffodils and cabbage grow at nadakurosaki on the southern coast. In the spring, you can enjoy plum and cherry blossoms. A hanging plum tree is famous in the Yagi area of South Awaji city. Although canola flowers are planted everywhere in Awajisjma, especially Hanasajiki Garden located on the hilltops is one of the best places for flower viewing with 2 million canola flowers. From the seeds of these flowers’ canola oil is extracted. Even further from this oil, biofuelis produced at an experimental plant in the Gosihiki area.

In the spring, the marigold flower is in full bloom which is a famous herb for medication and eatable as well. Carnation production in Awajishima is 4th in all of Japan. In summer you can see sunflowers everywhere, from which seed oil is extracted. In the northern part of Awajishima modern and impressive architecture is visible which was built based on the idea of internationally known architect Tadao Ando, it is called Yumebutai. The garden of this building, hyakudanen garden, is arranged with flowers from each season.
